Assessment of Machine Safety Automation Systems

With the rapid advancement of technology in the design of machines and production lines, there is increasing emphasis on enhanced functionality, operational efficiency, and cost reduction. In such circumstances, safety standards for control systems are based on the definition and verification of the reliability of safety functions, rather than on standardized, prescriptive solutions. This service involves verifying the safety-related control system in accordance with international standards PN-EN 62061 and PN-EN ISO 13849.

Scope of the Service Includes:

Verification of proper selection of safety functions – involves checking whether the hazards identified in the hazard analysis are adequately covered by the required safety functions. If harmonized standards are applicable to the machine, the verification is extended to cover their specific requirements.
Verification of safety requirement assignment – for each safety function, we check whether the process of assigning functional safety requirements was properly carried out during system design.
Verification of compliance with safety requirements – involves checking whether the designed safety function meets the required Safety Integrity Level (SIL) or Performance Level (PL) assigned during the risk assessment process, based on the components used, system architecture, and diagnostic coverage.
Validation of safety software – consists of reviewing and testing the safety software using recognized techniques to detect and correct existing errors.
On-machine automation testing, including cold tests (performed after device commissioning) and hot tests (performed before final commissioning). The purpose is to verify that all components of the safety system interact correctly to ensure protection against hazards.
