Conformity Assessment of Pressure Equipment Assemblies

Process installations or production lines often include assemblies of pressure equipment subject to the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU. The conformity assessment of such an assembly depends on its classification category under the PED. If the assembly is classified above Category I, involvement of a Notified Body is required in the assessment process.

Our Approach:

Classification of the Pressure Equipment Assembly – Based on the documentation provided for the designed pressure equipment, piping, permissible operating pressures, and the type of medium, we perform the classification of the assembly and propose an appropriate conformity assessment pathway. Additionally, for each assessment path, we select the necessary documentation and testing procedures in cooperation with the Notified Body UDT-CERT 1433.
Risk Analysis – Together with the client, we carry out a risk analysis as described in the "Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment" section. We also select the necessary safeguards and assign them reliability requirements expressed in terms of SIL.
Conformity Assessment – We guide our clients throughout the entire conformity assessment process. We outline the required documentation and testing in accordance with the Notified Body’s requirements. We review and classify the documents provided by the client and issue recommendations regarding their correctness or any required corrections. The documentation is compiled in a format acceptable to the Notified Body and submitted to the client.
Assessment of Safety Automation Systems – This is an integral part of the conformity assessment of pressure equipment assemblies. As part of the service, we evaluate existing certification documentation for the safety automation system or, if it is missing, we prepare such documentation on behalf of the client.
Assessment of Mechanical Safeguards – We verify the selection of safety valves in terms of performance and medium parameters to ensure maximum protection against overpressure. We also assess the compliance of non-standard solutions with directive requirements.
Cooperation with the Notified Body – Our experts assist in selecting and completing the application for the conformity assessment process, submit the compiled documentation on your behalf, and represent you throughout the assessment process with the Notified Body UDT-CERT.
On-site Testing and Trials – Upon request, we participate in on-site testing and trials involving experts from the Notified Body.
