Product Certification in Terms of SIL or PL

Our service is intended for manufacturers of components used in industrial automation, such as process transmitters, electromechanical devices, controllers, valves, or VSD drives. We provide expert support in obtaining SIL or PL certification, confirming their suitability for use in safety-related systems in accordance with PN-EN 61508, PN-EN 61511, or PN-EN ISO 13849 standards. We prepare the certification documentation and represent our clients during the certification process before the UDT-CERT Product Certification Body.

Scope of the Service Includes:

Definition of reference requirements – We consult with the client to determine the scope and objective of obtaining certification. Based on this, we propose the appropriate reference standard for assessing the product against safety requirements.
Determination of the certification path – Based on the product documentation provided by the client, project history, and functional safety experience, we select the most cost- and time-effective approach.
FMEA analysis – Conducted to identify failure modes within the device and their potential impact on safety. This service is performed together with the client and is based on the product design analysis. The process includes reliability calculations to determine the SIL or PL level achieved by the product under specified operating conditions.
Preparation of certification documentation – Created using supplied materials, including design documentation, quality test protocols, and the quality documentation of the manufacturing facility.
Verification of organizational and technical conditions for stable production and functional safety management system – Our objective is to ensure that the certified product meets the SIL or PL requirements and that the manufacturer can effectively manage functional safety. A key aspect of functional safety management is the ability to incorporate new information discovered after certification, which may impact safety-critical parameters.
